This is My Story

HI, I’m Steve and this is a brief overview of my history and how I’ve got to where I am today. At the age of 18 I joined the Army (Royal Core of Signals) as a Telecoms Technician. Where this may not sound very energetic, mandatory PT was held 3-5 times a week, depending on regimental duties, with the addition of a sports afternoon and any personal training in my personal time. Whilst in the Army I was part of a rowing team, shooting team and orienteering team each developing my teaching ability. The technical roll within the Army gave me a great sense of fault finding which I have carried with me helping to find and work around any injuries. Once out of the Army I followed my career in IT but soon realised I was missing the physical side of things and soon got bored of a technical roll. Luckily before leaving the Army I had taken up Martial Arts learning Aikido and Karate opening me up to a whole new world of teaching. This is where my life was given direction, I had found what I loved doing and was in the Dojo learning and later teaching 5-6 times a week. I continue to have a weekly session in order to develop not only my Martial Arts but my teaching ability.

This of course led me onto studying more in depth about the human body, which led onto my personal training courses. Where I was never an academic student at school, I had obviously found my passion, qualifying in my level 2 Gym Instructor qualification and later in my level 3 Personal Trainer qualification. After qualifying I signed up with REPs (Register of Exercise Professionals) Governing Body who require not only a high level of standard but also 24 yearly CPD (Continued Personal Development) points gained by completing extra courses. This means that the standards will not drop and continued learning must take place improving me as an instructor.

I believe this gives me a solid foundation on which to grow and continue to do so. I also believe that knowledge is power. I like to make sure you go away having learnt something as well as working hard, so when you get home you can make informed decisions, be it nutritional, or how to work your body for your specific goals.

My Recent Work

Recently we have been putting a lot of time and effort into getting the name known. We have been handing out leaflets, running stalls at fetes and had competitions for people to win some free sessions. So far things are looking good and we are getting some great feedback.

As well as all of this we have been researching some new venues to get some more morning classes running after the school run. What is looking most likely is a class run in a different local hall each morning so if you can’t make a certain day or you want a couple of classes a week, it’s just a short drive away.
